B1639 - SOLD

This is a gorgeous antique French statue of the Virgin Mary & Baby Jesus. It is beautifully moulded in spelter and is gilded. It is very decorative and architectural and would be superb as part of a religious display.

Mary stands on an onyx base.  She wears a lovely crown & her hair falls down her back in wondrous waves. Her gown drapes beautifully and falls around her in lovely folds. She holds the little Baby Jesus in her arms as he waves his chubby hands in the air - just charming!

The statue is a weighty little piece and is sturdy. The gilding has a lovely buttery hue with shiny highlights which catch the light beautifully.

The statue measures :- 14 cm (5.5 inches) high x 4.75 cm (1.9 inches) wide x 4.75 cm (1.9 inches) deep.

This is a fabulous religious piece to display and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
