B1641 - Amazing Antique French Wooden Coat Rack, Winged Cherub Plaque & Embellishments

This amazing antique French coat rack would certainly add a unique period finishing touch to a hall.

The back plate is wood and is painted grey. In the centre of this is a fabulous metal plaque. In the centre of the plaque is a face within a shield. To either side of this is a gorgeous winged cherub. One of the cherubs holds a hammer and a wheel and above him is a ribbon with the words 'L'ART INDUSTRIE'. The other cherub holds a canvas and a paint brush and above him is a ribbon with the words 'L'ART DECORATIF'. A decorative fish embellishment to either side of the plaque completes this stunning ensemble.

At the base of the wooden backplate is a metal bar which holds 4 moveable coat hooks. The backplate has 2 fittings and 2 screw holes for fixing to a wall.

The coat rack is sturdy. The paint has distressed a little over the years and there is a little cracking to the wood. The metal elements have all patinated which just adds character to this already unique piece.

It measures :- 76 cm (30 inches) wide x 29 cm (11.5 inches) high x 9 cm (3.5 inches) deep.
