B1690 - SOLD

This is a beautiful antique French wedding cushion dating from the Napoleon III era, circa 1860. It would have been used to display the bride's wedding couronne. It would now be superb for displaying jewellery, perhaps in a shop window or a boudoir. It would also be perfect for carrying the rings at a modern day marriage ceremony.

The cushion is filled with horsehair and is very full and plumptious. It is covered with a divine magenta coloured silk velvet. The  edges of the cushion are trimmed with sumptuous gold metallic wire passementerie and there is a circle of this to the front. Each of the corners has a gorgeous gold wire fringed tassel.

The cushion is in good antique condition. There is a little wear to the velvet on the top and a loop of braid in one of the corners has lost it's stitch. The wire passementerie and tassels have faded over the years to a lovely old gold, atmospheric hue.

The cushion measures:- 19 cm (7.5 inches) square x approx 12 cm (4.75 inches) high.

This beautiful timeworn treasure is from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.

N.B. The jewellery set is for display and is listed in our other items.
