B1706 - SOLD

This is a superb antique French curtain / drape dating about 1920/30. It is made in the most gorgeous silk brocade with a basket of flowers design. The curtain can be used as it is or there is masses of textile here to incorporate into any number of  interiors projects.

The silk brocade is lovely and rustly and catches the light beautifully. The flowers are in sublime pastel shades of pink, blue and lemon which look superb against the gold background.

The top of the curtain is sewn with a header tape with strings and is ruched. The curtain has a heavy cotton lining and has a 20 cm (8 inch ) hem. There is a seam down the middle.

We have left the curtain as we found it, it has not been dry cleaned. It is in good antique condition and would look beautiful hung just as it is. There are one or two characteristics of age. There is a hole 3 x 4 cm (1.1 inch x 1.5 inches) 10 cm (4 inches) down from the top and a series of 3 tiny nibbles 55 cm (21.6 inches) down from the top. There are one or two marks. None of this draws the eye or detracts from the beauty of this gorgeous curtain. Please see all the photos.

The curtain measures :- 209 cm (6 ft 10.25 inches) long x 253 cm (8 ft 3.5 inches) wide at the bottom and is ruched to 174 cm (5 ft 8.5 inches) wide at the top but this could be adjusted if required.

A gorgeous antique French curtain to incorporate into an interiors project.  It is from a carefully selected collection of antique & vintage French textiles, curtains & curtain accessories, and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'!

N.B. Any accessories we have used to display the curtain are not included.
