This is an amazing antique French decorative wooden box tidy. It will either hang or sit on a surface. It would be perfect in a hall to take letters or keys or in a boudoir or bathroom to take perfumes and lotions.

It is beautifully made in wood. The back is flat and the front bows out in a semi - circular shape and is lower than the back. The front and back both have decorative scalloped edges and are adorned with the most amazing profusion of leatherwork flowers and leaves. Each display has a fabulous central rose with hibiscus type flowers to either side and a mass of leaves.

Both the wood and leatherwork are in an atmospheric dark hue.

There are 3 metal loops and the original cord on the back for hanging purposes.

The box is in good sturdy condition. There is a piece of beading missing from the front edge. There has been some worm in the past but this has long gone.

It measures :- 32.5 cm (12.75 inches) wide x 22.5 cm (8.8 inches) high x approx 17 cm (6.75 inches) deep.
