This is a spectacular large antique French woven tapestry wall hanging with an idyllic pastoral scene. This one dates from the 19th Century and is after an 18th Century Aubusson tapestry in the 'Verdures fines' series. It is woven in incredible detail and texture. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is a beautiful rural vista with a magnificent château in the background. In the foreground is a beautiful blue pool within which is a hunting dog persuing a waterfowl. The pool is surrounded by a profusion of lush vegetation including a huge russet red frilly poppy beneath a stunning tree. A bird in flight completes the fabulous scene.

All this splendour is framed in a decorative border.

The colours are subtle greens, ochres and blues against which the russet red of the poppies looks stunning.

The tapestry is in good antique condition. It has not been cleaned. The sides have tack holes which do not draw the eye but they could be pressed back or hemmed to conceal them.

The tapestry measures :- 213 cm (7 ft ) long x 125 cm (4 ft 1.25 inches ) wide.
