This is a truly exceptional antique French Cornely lace curtain / bed throw dating from the 1800's. It would look sublime either fluttering at a window or draped across a bed.

The textile is a very fine cotton muslin and it is heavily embroidered with flower vignettes worked in fine chain stitch. There is a gorgeous central oval design with a rose and flowers and this is surrounded with a vase and flower border. All of the edges are scalloped and have a decorative floral border within. The rest of the textile is covered with further flower vignettes - just breathtaking.

The textile is a lovely antique white. It is in very good antique condition but not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age there are some characteristics. There are some tiny holes and darns, non large enough to specifically mention, across the piece. These in no way draw the eye or detract from the splendour of this gorgeous antique lace panel. The panel measures :- 263 cm (8 ft 7.5 inches) long x 180 cm (5 ft 11 inches) wide.
