This gorgeous antique French green silk velvet & appliqué château pelmet dates around 1860 and is entirely hand made. It would be the perfect authentic château chic finishing touch to a curtain ensemble.

The pelmet is made in a superb deep pile green silk velvet.  It has a central panel and a panel to either side with cut out detail. The panels are created using a fabulous silk damask and brocade textile. The damask has a lovely smooth silk texture and the brocade has an urn of flowers design.

Each panel is fantastically edged using scrolled silk appliqué in fabulous shades of champagne and cream.

The bottom of the pelmet is shaped and is trimmed with a sumptuous thich fringed passementerie.

The pelmet is stiffened and is lined. It is in very good antique condition. There are some small holes along the top edge where it was once nailed to a batten but these are barely noticeable. There are a few tiny light marks which blend into the design and do not detract from this amazing piece. It has not been dry cleaned.

The pelmet measures :- W 214 cm (7 ft 0.25 inches) x H 57 cm (1 ft 10.5 inches) including the fringe.
