B1783 - Divine Antique French Glass In Repousse & 'Jewelled' Holder, Napoleon III Circa 1860This is a divine antique French glass in a fabulous holder dating from the Napoleon III era C1860. It is extremely decorative and a lovely piece from which to sip a well deserved appero. The holder is exquisitely made in gilded filigree repoussé and sits on a 'crown' base. Around the circumferance of the holder are 4 crested appliqués each holding a claw set faceted paste 'jewel'. There is a scrolled handle with a thumb rest. The glass is original and fits the holder perfectly. It has a cut glass design and gilded bands. The glass and it's holder are in good antique condition. The gilding is still bright and beautiful with a subtle antique patina and a little verdigris. The glass in it's holder measures :- 10 cm (4 inches) high. It is 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter across the top and bottom. A stunningly unique glass in a holder for a display vitrine or to use and enjoy. It is from a collection of carefully selected antique and vintage French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'!
