B1787 - SOLD

This is a superb pair of long antique French heavy textured cotton panels dating from the Napoleon III era circa 1860. The textile is in amazing condition and would make a fabulous pair of château curtains.

The textile has a design of acanthus leaf scrolls and raspberries in a striking colour combination of shades of pink and gold on a black background.

The tops and bottoms of the panels have cut edges and the sides are formed by the selvedge.

The textile is very crisp and hangs beautifully. There are no marks. There is one small hole on the leading edge of the left hand panel 24 cm (9.5 inches) down from the top and 3 cm (1.1 inches) in. This could be darned. Under extreme scrutiny the left hand panel appears a tad lighter in colour than the right. There are some remaining threads on the edges from having been previously sewn.

Each panel measures :- 287 cm (9 ft 5 inches) long x 80 cm (2 ft 7.5 inches) wide.

A gorgeous pair of curtain panels to add an authentic château chic finishing touch to an interior. They are from a carefully selected collection of antique & vintage French textiles, curtains & curtain accessories at 'La Belle Étoffe'!

N.B. Any accessories we have used to display the panels are not included. The silk tassel tie backs are listed in our other items.
