B1812 - Gorgeous Antique French Marriage / Wedding Stand, Hirondelle Crest, Napoleon III
Dating from the Napoleon III period (C 1860) this gorgeous antique French stand would have originally been displayed below a glass dome as part of the traditional marriage display.
The dome and wooden base have long gone but this superb timeworn period piece remains fabulously decorative.
The stand sits on 4 wire feet. The centre of the stand is formed by a pink silk padded and buttoned cushion upon which is pinned the original wax bud bridal couronne and corsage - just lovely.
Around the edge of the cushion is a plethora of gilded toleware flowers. A beautiful silvered hirondelle with a flower garland wreath in it's beak forms the central crest.
The stand is sturdy. The silk has faded and the hirondelle has tarnished over the years but it is gorgeous just as it is.
The stand measures:- 38 cm (15 inches) high x 23 cm (9 inches) wide x 8 cm (3.1 inches) deep.
A gorgeous treasure to add faded grandeur to a chateau chic boudoir or display and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
