This truly beautiful large vintage French tapestry wall hanging is of superb quality and dates from the mid 1900's. It would certainly add an authentic château chic statement.

It depicts an idyllic 18th Century château garden scene inspired by Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon in the grounds of the palace of Versailles.

The central focus of the scene are two beautiful maidens and a young man with a bird in his hand. All around them is a profusion of flowers, lush vegetation and trees.

Around the scene is a fabulous border with a quiver of arrows and flaming torch crest.

The attention to detail is astonishing - see the basket of roses,  the musical instruments and heraldic crest.

The colours are clear shades of ochre, pink and green.

The tapestry is woven in cotton in wonderful detail and texture and it's quality is undeniable. It is is thick and heavy and is in superb vintage condition. It is lined and has fixtures at the back for hanging purposes.

The tapestry measures :- 190.5 cm (6 ft 3 inches) wide x 131 cm (4 ft 3.5 inches) high.

A fantastic vintage tapestry to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
