B1827 - SOLD

This heavenly long antique French lace panel / curtain dates from the 19th Century. It is delicate and intricate and would be the perfect antique  finishing touch to a period window.

The textile is a fine tulle in an atmospheric warm cream. It is finished to the top, left hand side and bottom with Cornley lace. Within this is a gorgeous Cornley lace chainstitch border of beautiful bows with ribbontails, each bow holding a sprig of 3 flowers. The rest of the piece is covered with leaf and berry sprigs.

We have left the panel as we found it. It is clean and is in good seviceable antique condition. However not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age there are some characteristics. The right hand side of the panel is longer than the left hand side, possibly caused by a slight twisting during the laundering process. This is noticeable when the curtain hangs straight but is of no consequence when it is draped using a curtain hold back. There are a few minor repairs and a few very small holes mostly on the right hand side (please see all the photos) but again these do not draw the eye or affect the beauty of the piece.

The panel measures :- 343 cm (11 ft 3 inches) inches) long on the right hand side & 322 cm ( 10 ft 6.75 inches) on the left hand side (as one looks at it). It is 130 cm ( 4ft 3.75 inches) wide.

A divine antique French lace panel / curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

Please note that the clips & hold back we have used to display the curtain are not included.
