B1840 - SOLDThis superb antique French jardinière / display plinth dates from the 19th Century and would have been used as a table centrepiece. It is circular in shape and is made in carved wood in the Empire style. The centre is raised up to form a platform and between this and the outer edge is a removeable zinc trough. The trough is for filling with water to take flowers and the platform will take a vase of flowers to form a two tiered arrangement or will take a figurine, a bottle or just about anything! The plinth sits on 3 cute sturdy decorative brass feet. The carved wood of the plinth is gilded over plaster. The gilding and paint have distressed and mellowed over the years to a subtle atmospheric patina. The plinth measures :- 21 cm (8.25 inches) in diameter x 7.5 cm (3 inches) high. A fabulous display plinth to add the final finishing touch to a table or to enhance a special piece and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe. N.B. We have photographed the plinth with a gilded Mary, B1837, which is listed in our other items. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo. SOLD
