This is a stunning pair of antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 19th Century.

They are heavy substantial examples of their type. They are of good quality with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The back plate has a scrolled acanthus leaf crest. The hook has a fabulous eagle's head and ends with an impressive grape filled acanthus leaf cup.

The gilding on the metal has patinated a little with the passage of time  but still has a golden glow which catches the light beautifully.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole in the top of the back plate to take a screw.

Each hold back measures :- H 18 cm (7.1 inches) x W 4.5 cm (1.75 inches) x D 13 cm (5.1 inches).

A superb pair of curtain tie backs to add a château chic statement and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
