B1879 - SOLDThis fabulous vintage French, Robert Four of Aubusson, woven wall hanging would certainly add a fabulous château chic finishing touch to a room. It's design is after 'Les Vendanges' of the Cluny Museum in Paris. The original 'Les Vendanges' tapestry was completed in the first quarter of the 16th Century. This version certainly captures the essence of the original and would look superb whether hung in a country house home or a hyper modern apartment. It is of wonderful quality. The textile is a heavy woven wool and linen which hangs beautifully. The scene is hand printed onto the wool by a silkscreen process. The colours and detail are amazing! The design is incredibly detailed. It shows the stages of wine making, including the picking of the grapes and the pressing. The scene takes place in a vineyard with a background of millefleurs. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with the nobility rubbing shoulders with the peasants. The colours are rich reds, ochres, greens and blues. The wall hanging is in good vintage condition - just a little darkening of the colours with the passage of time. It has not been dry cleaned. It measures :- 208 cm (6 ft 9.9 inches) wide x 114 cm (3 ft 8.9 inches) high. A fantastic vintage wall hanging to add an authentic château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique & vintage textiles & decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'. N.B. The clips from which we have hung the wall hanging are not included.
