B1884 - SOLD

This is a charming vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the early to mid 1900's. It would add a sublime château chic finishing touch to a room and make a lovely bed head.

It depicts an idyllic waterside scene with a mountain vista in the background. There is an island to the centre with a working watermill to the right.

In the foreground is a profusion of vegetation including climbing pink roses and iris at the waterside. Stunning trees tower up on both sides.

The colours of the tapestry are very subtle. Shades of ochre and green dominate the palette with hints of pale blue and pink.

The tapestry is woven in cotton and is of good quality. It is lined and has metal rings on the back for hanging purposes.

It is in good vintage condition. We can see just one or two age spots in the top right hand corner (please see photos) but these blend into the design and do not draw the eye.

The tapestry measures :- 150 cm (4 ft 11 inches) wide x 70 cm (2 ft 3.6 inches) high.

A fantastic vintage tapestry to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
