B1888 - Fabulous PAIR Antique French Glass Soap Dishes, Gilded Acanthus Leaf BracketsThis is a fabulous pair of antique French soap dishes dating from the 19th Century. They are very atmospheric pieces and would add a marvelous authentic finishing touch to a period salle de bain. The actual dishes are made in opaline glass in a very pale milky blue hue with some bubbles. They sit in gilded metal frames with a stunning decorative acanthus leaf back plate. There are two holes in the back plate for fixing to the wall. The soap dishes have survived the years in good antique condition with just a few characteristics of age. The glass is intact with just a hint of roughness to the edges but this would surely polish out if required. The gilding on the metal frames has mellowed from years of contact with water but this does not detract from the stunning appearance of these rare pieces. Each soap dish in it's frame measures :- 14.5 cm (5.7 inches) wide x 13 cm (5.1 inches) high x 15 cm (5.9 inches) deep. A fabulous pair of soap dishes to add an authentic period finishing touch and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe! The soap is for display purposes only.
