B1902 - SOLDThis is a magnificent pair of large antique French gilded metal curtain pole holders in the Empire style and dating from the 1800's. At some stage in their life they have had a supporting rod removed (please see photos) and would therefore not be suitable for holding a rod carrying heavy curtains. They would however add a truly stunning château chic finishing touch to a lightweight curtain ensemble or a faux window treatment. The fascia of each holder has a stunning flaming torch crest beneath which are two crossed laurel branches. Each holder has a ring to take the pole. The rings have their original bolts to hold the pole in place. The bolts are a little rusty but they work perfectly. The back plates of the holders each have a slot and a screw hole for fixing to a wall. The gilding on the metal has mellowed over the years to a lovely old antique hue. Each pole holder measures :- H 32 cm (12.6 inches) x W 6 cm (2.3 inches) x D 21 cm (8.25 inches). The inside diameter of the ring is 4.5 cm (1.75 inches). A magnificent pair of curtain pole holders to add a château chic statement and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
