B1908 - Charming Antique French Cast Iron 19th Century Hand Chateau Door Knocker Set

This is a charming antique French door knocker set dating from the 1800's.

It is made from cast iron and is painted in an atmospheric shade of antique rusty red.

The knocker is in the shape of a lady's hand and is beautifully detailed. It has a ring on the middle finger and there is a frilled cuff with a bow at the wrist. The fingers clasp an apple which forms the actual knocker.

The  knocker comes with it's original back bracket and the plate against which it hammers.

Both the knocker and the plate have a threaded bolt and nut for fixing to the door. These have patinated over the years but the bolt does unscrew.

The knocker is sturdy and substantial and together with it's back plate measures :-

W 4.4 cm (1.7 inches) X H 12.5 cm (4.9 inches) X D 5.5 cm (2.2 inches)
