B1912 - SOLD

This is a stunning large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from mid 1900's. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century Aubusson tapestry 'Verdure de Rambouillet'. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is a beautiful rural vista with rolling hills in the background and  magnificent trees to the foreground. All around is a profusion of lush vegetation.

Around this beauty is a border of leaves and scrolls.

The colours are restful shades of green and brown.

The tapestry is woven in cotton. It is lined  and has fixtures on the back for hanging purposes. There is also a pocket to take a pole.

The tapestry is clean and in good vintage condition. If one looks very closely you can see a line going down the middle of it. To the left of this the colours are slighty more muted than those to the right. This could be as a result of a storage issue or perhaps be in the weave but it does not affect the overall splendour.

The tapestry measures :- 183 cm (6 ft) wide x 122 cm (4 ft) high.

A fantastic large tapestry wall hanging to add a château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.

N.B. - The clips we have used to hang the tapestry are not included.
