B1957 - Stunning Pair Antique French Gilded Spelter Church Altar Candlesticks, 19th Century
This is a stunning pair of antique French church candlesticks dating from the 19th Century. They would have been used on a church altar. They would now make a very stylish addition to a château chic interior, perhaps sitting on an enfilade in front of an antique tapestry.
They are very decorative and detailed. They each sit on three sturdy feet. The base has a cross to each of it's three sides and the column has an intricate leaf and tendril design. There is a generous bobeche to the top.
The candlesticks are very substantial. They are made of spelter and are gilded. The gilding has mellowed and patinated over the years to wonderful effect.
Whether placed on a simple country buffet or a grand enfilade these gorgeous candlesticks will look stunning.
Each candlestick measures :- H 27.5 cm (10.8 inches) to the top of the candle holder x 14 cm (5.5 inches) along one side of the base.
These superb candlesticks are from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
N.B. The candles are not included.
