B1963 - Beautiful Antique French Religious Benitier, Virgin Mary & Jesus Painted On Wood

This is a beautiful antique French spelter bénitier holding a painted image of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on wood. It would be perfect for a contemplative niche.

The spelter frame is gilded and has a stunning leaf design with a central leaf crest. Beneath the crest, forming the back plate of the bénitier is the divine painted image of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus. The paint has texture and has possibly been applied over a print. The resultant effect is just gorgeous.

Beneath the painting is the decorative  holy water stoup.

When we turn the frame over we see the wooden back of the painting and a sturdy loop for hanging on a wall.

The bénitier is substantial and sturdy.

It measures :- 30 cm (11.75 inches) high x 13 cm (5.1 inches) wide x 6 cm (2.3 inches) deep.
