This is a gorgeous long antique French hand made Richelieu lace pelmet dating around 1900. It would look superb above a window and be simply divine above a bed as a ciel de lit.

It is fashioned from a swirling ribbon of crochet worked in a thick cotton thread and held together with drawn threadwork. Within this are 5 panels of fabulous roses and leaves fantastically hand worked in cut out Richelieu lace.

The bottom of the pelmet is scalloped and is adorned with a plethora of crocheted bobbles - just wonderful.

The pelmet is a lovely shade of pale cream. It is clean and in very good antique condition. There is one minor area of slight discolouration on the left hand side (please see photos). There are some threads at the top where it was once attached to something.

The pelmet measures :-  210 cm (6 ft 10.7 inches) long x 42.5 cm (16.7 inches) high including the bobbles.

A fantastic antique Richelieu lace pelmet to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
