B1988 - SOLD
This is a sublime long antique French tapestry château curtain dating from the 19th Century. It would add an authentic 'always been there' finishing touch to a period home and certainly help to keep the draughts out.
The textile is a cotton tapestry weave. The design is a delightful melange of bucolic rural scenes within a floral border. The colours are tawny shades of brown, green and ochre.
All 4 sides of the curtain are formed by the selvedge of the tapestry.
We have left the curtain as we found it. It is in good antique condition. We can find just one tiny hole at the very top and a line of wear about 1.5 cm (1 inch) long on the right hand edge (please see photos). It has not been dry cleaned.
The curtain measures:- 286 cm (9 ft 4.6 inches) long x 122 cm (4 ft ) wide.
A sublime antique French curtain to add an authentic château chic statement and another superb period French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
N.B. Any curtain accessories we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated.
