This is a spectacular pair of antique French gilded brass curtain pole holders in the Empire style and dating from the 1800's. They are large and sturdy and suitable for supporting a substantial pair of château curtains. .

The fascia and support of each holder has gorgeous acanthus leaf detail.

Each holder has a cup to take the pole. There is a spike within each cup to hold the pole in place.

The back plates of the holders each have a fitting for hanging on a hook and a screw hole for fixing to a wall.

The gilding on the brass has mellowed over the years to perfection while still maintaing golden highlights. 

Each pole holder measures :- H 25.5 cm (10.1 inches) x W 5 cm (2 inches) x D 20 cm (7.9 inches).  The inside diameter of the pole cup is 5.5 cm (2.16 inches).
