B2036 - Fabulous Antique French Repousse / Toleware Mirror, Cherub / Putti Crest, Circa 1860This is a fabulous antique French repoussé mirror dating from the Napoleon III era Circa 1860. It would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a room. The mirror has a gorgeous crest formed by two cherubs facing each other. Behind one of them is a flaming torch and behind the other is a quiver of arrows. A laurel leaf garland falling to each side completes this stunning ensemble. The mirror plate is thick and heavy and is surrounded by a decorative repoussé frame. The back of the mirror is made in metal and has 2 loops to take a cord. The mirror is sturdy and in good antique condition. There is a little foxing to the glass plate. The glass plate moves a fraction within the frame but is very secure when the mirror is hung. The repoussé of the crest has received a few knocks over the years but it is gorgeous just as it is. The mirror measures :- 45.5 cm (17.9 inches) high x 32 cm (12.6 inches) wide.
