B2045 - Beautiful Antique French Marriage / Wedding Velvet Tasselled Cushion Napoleon III

This is a beautiful antique French wedding cushion dating from the Napoleon III era, circa 1860. It would have been used to display the bride's wedding couronne. It would now be superb for displaying jewellery, perhaps in a shop window or a boudoir. It would also be perfect for carrying the rings at a modern day marriage ceremony.

The cushion is very firm and plumptious. It is covered with a divine teal coloured silk velvet. The  edges of the cushion are trimmed with sumptuous gold metallic wire passementerie and there is a figure of 8 of this to the front. Each of the corners has a gorgeous intricate knotted gold wire appliqué from which a tassel hangs.

The cushion is in general good antique condition. There are some pin holes in the top and a tiny area of wear to the velvet in the front right hand corner (please see photos). The gold wire passementerie and tassels have darkened in places but still retain golden glints.  

The cushion measures:- 20 cm (7.87 inches) square x approx 14 cm (5.5 inches) high.
