B2056 - Stunning Antique French Blue Glass Bon Bon Dish, Lid & Handle, Grapes & VinesThis is a stunning antique French orb shaped spelter and glass bon bon / trinket dish dating from the 1800's. It oozes style and grandeur and is as decorative as it is useful. The dish itself is made of gorgeous thick blue glass full of all the marvelous bubbles and imperfections only to be found in really old glass. The glass dish sits in a beautiful spelter base with 3 decorative feet and a handle. The base has a pierced vine leaf and grapes design through which the blue glass can be seen. The spelter has a wonderful dark atmospheric hue. The lid of the dish is also made in glass and has the same decorative spelter overlay. There is a charming bunch of grapes finial to the centre. The dish is in good antique condition. If one looks very carefully you can see that there is a small piece of one of the vine leaves missing on the frieze around the base (please see photos) but this does not draw the eye. On the underside of the glass dish there is what looks like a chip (please see photos) but it is not, it is just a smooth imperfection in the glass. The dish with it's lid on and handle down measures :- 15 cm (5.9 inches) high x 12 cm (4.7 inches) in diameter. Whether filled with bon bons and displayed on a side table or filled with jewellery on a dressing table this beautiful dish would certainly add a château chic touch to a salon or boudoir. A delightful dish to use and enjoy and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe! N.B. The accessories are for display only.
