B2065 - Stunning Vintage French Tapestry Wall Hanging, Medieval Scene, 'Duc De Berry'

This is a stunning vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 20th Century. It is full of medieval imagery and is woven in amazing detail. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

It is inspired by the magnificent illuminated manuscripts of Jean de France, Duc de Berry at the end of the 15th Century.

It depicts a party of the gentry mounted on beautiful horses. They are carrying falcons and are beautifully attired. They are attended by their manservant. Behind them is a magnificent castle set in fabulous countryside. The vegetation to the foreground is lush. The scene is breathtaking and is further set off by a gorgeous border. The colours are rich shades of green, brown & ochre with highlights of red, pink & blue in the costumes.

The reverse of the tapestry is lined. There are tabs at the top for hanging on a pole.

The tapestry is woven in cotton. It is in good vintage condition and measures :- 117 cm (3 ft 10 inches) wide x 91 cm (2 ft 11.75 inches) high not including the tabs. The tabs are 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) high.

A fantastic tapestry to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
