B2066 - Delightful Vintage French Tapestry Wall Hanging, Medieval Vineyard Winemaking

This is a delightful vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid to late 1900's. It depicts a medieval vineyard winemaking scene.

The scene is set in the vineyards of a fabulous château. The lord and lady of the château are visiting the vineyard where the processes of winemaking are taking place, from the picking to the treading of the grapes. In the foreground two ladies sit amongst the millefleur supervising the collection of the juice into the barrels.

The costumes and scenery are stunning and the scene is a feast for the eyes. It is further set off by a flower and grape garland border. The dominant colours are rich shades of blue, ochre and deep pink.

The tapestry is woven in wool and cotton. It is lined on the reverse. There are 5 tabs at the top for hanging on a pole.

The tapestry is in excellent vintage condition and measures :- 117 cm (3 ft 10 inches) wide x 91 cm (2 ft 11.8 inches) high not including the tabs. The tabs are 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) high.

A delightful tapestry to add a French finishing touch to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.

N.B. The pole is not included.
