B2067 - Divine Vintage French Tapestry Wall Hanging, Romantic Petit Trianon Jardin Scene

This is a divine vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the last quarter of the 20th Century. It would add a wonderful château chic finishing touch to a room.

It depicts an idyllic romantic 18th Century château garden scene inspired by Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon in the grounds of the palace of Versailles. 

A beautiful couple are beneath a tree. He is on one knee presenting his lady with a rose from a basket at their feet. Behind them is a lake with the château in the background. There is a stunning fountain with 2 winged cherubs holding an urn. The water falls from the urn into a shell and then into the lake below.

The garden is very beautiful with a profusion of flowers, lush vegetation and trees. 

Around this glorious scene is a rose border with white doves at the corners. 

The tapestry is of good quality and in good vintage condition. It is woven in cotton and wool in stunning detail and definition. The colours are vibrant shades.

It is lined on the reverse. There are 5 tabs at the top for hanging on a pole.

It measures :- 117 cm (3 ft 10 inches) wide x 91 cm (2 ft 11.8 inches) high not including the tabs. The tabs are 7 cm (2.7 inches) high.
