B2076 - Magnificent Pair Large Antique French Empire Style Curtain Pole Holders, 19th Century

This is a magnificent pair of  large antique French gilded metal curtain pole holders in the Empire style and dating from the 1800's. They are very substantial and would be suitable for holding a rod carrying heavy château curtains.

The fascia of each holder has a stunning bow crest beneath which are a crossed quiver of arrows and a flaming torch.

Each holder has a large ring to take the main pole and a smaller slot to take a lace curtain pole if required.

The back plates of the holders each have a slot and a screw hole for fixing to a wall.

The gilding on the metal has mellowed over the years to a dramatic patina with some areas of verdigris.

Each pole holder measures :- H 33.5 cm (13.1 inches) x W 8.5 cm (3.3 inches) x D 17 cm (6.6 inches).  The inside diameter of the ring is 4.5 cm (1.75 inches).
