B2082 - Magnificent HUGE Vintage French Verdure Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, 3.59 M Wide

This is a magnificent huge vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from the early to mid 1900's. It's sheer size sets it apart from other tapestries. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is a beautiful rural vista with a river running through centre. In the background is a village on a hill. Four magnificent trees dominate the foreground beneath which is more fabulous vegetation.

Around this splendour is a sewn border with a scrolled acanthus leaf design.

The colours are subtle shades of greens and browns slightly faded with the passage of time.

The tapestry is woven in cotton. It is not lined and has not been dry cleaned.

It is in good vintage condition. There are some rust marks at the top where it was once tacked to a batten. 

It measures :- 359 cm (11 ft 9.3 inches) wide x 200 cm (6 ft 6.7 inches) high.

A fantastic huge tapestry wall hanging to add a château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
