B2085 - Gorgeous Antique French Linen & Richelieu Lace Curtain / Drape, Cherub, PuttiThis is a gorgeous long antique French hand made lace curtain dating around 1900. The curtain is made in white linen. There is a vertical band of rose buds and leaves fantastically hand worked in cut out Richelieu lace to both sides. To the centre is an oval panel of filet lace with a charming cherub and Greek goddess design. Around this and to the bottom of the curtain is further extensive Richelieu lace work with full blown roses - just fabulous. The bottom of the curtain is finished with tassels gently frothed with the passage of time. The sides of the curtain are finished with hand made lace. There are 18 pairs of tabs at the top of the curtain for hanging on a pole. The curtain is in very good antique condition. It has been laundered. We can find just one tiny hole in the linen in one of the leaves (please see photos). The curtain measures :- Length 284 cm (9 ft 3.8 inches) including the fringe. Width 156 cm ( 5 ft 1.4 inches) across the top & 170 cm (5 ft 6.9 inches) across the bottom. A fantastic antique Richelieu lace curtain to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
