B2090 - SOLDThis is a fabulous vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's. It is woven with a 17th Century hunting scene after the Renaissance tapestry ' Chasse à courre de Detti'. It is a very atmospheric piece and would look superb in a country house home. It is of good quality and is woven in cotton in wonderful colour and detail. It depicts a stunning scene of a gathering of fabulously dressed noble men and women at a hunt. They are riding magnificent steeds and are surrounded by a plethora of trees and vegetation. Their servants control the hunting dogs. In the background is a fabulous mountain vista and in the middle ground the hunt can be seen to be in full swing. Around this glorious scene is a sewn border with a flower and leaf design. The tapestry is in very good vintage condition. It is lined. There are metal fixtures sewn on the back for hanging purposes. There is also a sewn pocket to take a pole. It measures :- 202 cm (6 ft 7.5 inches) wide x 121 cm (3 ft 11.6 inches) high.
