B2092 - Superb Antique French Gesso On Wood Picture Frame, Oil On Board Painting Chinon

This is a marriage of a gorgeous antique French gesso on wood picture frame and an oil on board painting. The two look perfect together but of course the painting could be removed and the frame used for another work of art.

The frame has a wonderful dark turquoise paint effect with hints of gilding and red Fontenay. The paint has gently distressed in places which just adds to the character of this lovely old frame.

The frame is sturdy and measures :-  46 cm (18.1 inches) x 53.5 cm (21 inches).

The aperture measures :- 31.75 cm (12.5 inches) x 40.25 cm (15.8 inches).

The frame holds an oil on board painting entitled 'Chinon MAISONS XV SIECLE' and is signed S. Tulovy. The painting fits in the frame with a small gap at the top.

This is stunning frame and painting combination for a special niche and another superb antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
