B2095 - Gorgeous Vintage French Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, 18th Century Verdure Rural Scene

This is a gorgeous vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's. It is woven with an 18th Century verdure rural scene. It is a very atmospheric piece and would look superb in a country house home.

It is finely woven in wool and cotton and is of superb quality. It is thick and plumtious and is woven in relief which adds definition to the subject matter.

In the mid ground of the charming scene are 2 hunters and a woman with a baby. One of the hunters slumbers beneath a tree while a dog laps at a pond.

All around are fabulous trees and vegetation in stunning shades of teal, ochre and brown. Touches of pink in the costumes adds a lovely contrast to the vibrant colour palette.

Around this glorious scene is a scrolled mustard border with pink flowers.

The tapestry is in good vintage condition. It is lined and has metal fixtures sewn to the back for hanging purposes. 

It measures :- 135.5 cm (5 ft 5.3 inches) high x 91.5 cm (3 ft ) wide.
