B2096 - SOLDThis stunning large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging is after an 18th Century Aubusson tapestry and has a bucolic pastoral scene. It dates from the mid 20th Century and is woven in incredible detail and texture. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home. The scene is a beautiful rural vista. There is a village in the background and a lone rider forms the central focal point. All around are fabulous trees and lush vegetation. All this splendour is framed by a decorative floral border. The colours are atmospheric browns, greens and ochres with touches of pink in the flowers and the rider's attire. The tapestry is of excellent quality and is woven in cotton. It is thick and heavy (nearly 3 kg) and has superb texture. It is lined and has rings on the back for hanging purposes. The front of the tapestry is in very good vintage condition. The lining has a water mark which of course will not show when the tapestry is in situ. The tapestry measures :- 196 cm (6 ft 5.1 inches) wide x 115 cm (3 ft 9.25 inches ) high. A fantastic large tapestry wall hanging to add an authentic château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'. N.B. - The clips we have used to hang the tapestry are not included.
