This is a beautiful antique French trinket box dating from the 19th Century. It is exquisitely made in gilded spelter in the shape of a mandolin on a stand and is of superb quality.

The stand is formed by swirling acanthus leaves and is easel in shape. The beautiful mandolin is fixed to the stand.

The top of the mandolin forms the lid of the trinket box and lifts up to reveal an interior beautifully lined with pleated silk and passementerie in a gorgeous shade of pale lime green.

The gilding on the spelter has a lovely mellow golden glow.

The box is in good antique condition. There is no wear to the silk.

It measures :-  14.75 cm (5.8 inches) high x approx. 13 cm (5.1 cm ) wide x approx. 9.5 cm (3.7 inches) deep.
