B2103 - Beautiful Vintage French Verdure Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, Birds At The Water

This is a beautiful vintage French woven verdure tapestry wall hanging. It depicts a bucolic scene of swans and herons at the waterside. The colours have gently faded with the passage of time to a pale pastel palette. The overall impression is one reminiscent of an antique Chinese silk embroidery.

In the background of the scene is a village and a windmill. The sides of the tapestry are flanked with beautiful trees and lush vegetation.

The centre of the scene is dominated by a pool in which two swans and two herons vie for position. Two storks fly overhead.

The tapestry is woven in cotton. It is lined and has metal fixtures on the back for hanging.

It measures :- 123 cm (4 ft 4 inches) wide x 99.5 cm (3 ft 3.1 inches) high.
