B2121 - SOLDThis fabulous vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging is after an 18th Century verdure Aubusson tapestry and has a bucolic pastoral scene. It dates from the mid 20th Century and is woven in incredible detail and texture. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home. The scene is a beautiful rural vista. There is a château perched on top of a cliff in the background, and a bridge over a river. The foreground is dominated by two fabulous trees and a plethora of lush vegetation. All this splendour is framed by a decorative floral border. The colours are atmospheric browns, greens and ochres. The tapestry is in good vintage condition. It is of excellent quality and is woven in cotton. It is thick and heavy and has superb texture. It is lined and has a pocket at the back to take a pole or batten. The tapestry measures :- 168 cm (5 ft 6.1 inches) wide x 117 cm (3 ft 10 inches ) high.
