B2132 - Fabulous Large Vintage French Verdure Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, Folly & Birds

This is a fabulous large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from mid 1900's. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is dominated by a magnificent tree. To either side of the tree is an impressive folly and a waterfall which spills into a pool. All around is lush vegetation among which are birds. See the pheasants, the heron, the woodpecker and little birds in the tree. There is a chateau and a mountain in the background.

Around this splendour is a sewn border with a flower and leaf design.

The colours are atmospheric shades of ochre, green, teal & brown.

The tapestry is finely woven in cotton. It is lined and has metal fixtures sewn on the back for hanging purposes.

It is in good vintage condition.

The tapestry measures :- 196 cm (6 ft 5.1 inches) wide x 163 cm (5 ft 4.1 inches) high.

A fantastic large tapestry wall hanging to add a château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
