This fabulous vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging is after an 18th Century verdure Aubusson tapestry and has a bucolic pastoral scene. It dates from the mid 20th Century and is woven in wool in incredible detail and texture. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is a beautiful rural vista. Two magnificent trees to either side frame the view of  the mountains in the background.  To the foreground are lush vegetation and flowers amongst which a dog frolicks.

All this splendour is framed by a sewn decorative floral border.

The colours are atmospheric browns, greens and ochres with highlights of pink in the flowers.

The tapestry is in good vintage condition. It is of excellent quality and is woven in relief to give a three dimensional appearance. It is thick and heavy and has superb texture.

It is lined and has rings on the back for hanging purposes.

The tapestry measures :- 200 cm (6 ft 6.7 inches) wide x 114 cm (3 ft 8.8 inches ) high.
