This is a fantastic large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid to late 1900's. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is dominated by 3 groups of a fabulous trees. In the background is a magnificent château and in the foreground a river is crossed by an architectural bridge. The banks of the river are covered with lush vegetation. Within this gorgeous scene are birds. See the pair of ducks on the bank, the swan on the water and the little birds in the trees - just charming!

The colours are atmospheric shades of ochre, green, teal & brown.

The tapestry is woven in cotton and is in good vintage condition. There is a tiny tack hole in each of the top corners (please see photos).

It measures :- 180 cm (6 ft 5.1 inches) wide x 137.5 cm (5 ft 4.1 inches) high.
