B338 - Divine Antique French Chocolate / Bon Bon Box, White Doves, Art Deco Scene C1920

This is a divine antique French chocolate / bon bon box dating from around 1920.

It would originally have been filled with confectionary - perhaps chocolates or sugared almonds and would have come from a high quality chocolatière or confiserie.

The design on the lid is Art Deco in style and is utterly charming. It features a mademoiselle coiffed and dressed in the fashion of the time. She sits beneath a willowy tree with tendrils of pure white blossom and two white doves hovering above.

The edge of the box is covered with black paper with Paris pink edges. The rest of the box is covered in gold paper in a lovely antique hue.

The box is sturdy and in good condition.

It measures 22.5 cm (9 inches) long x 12 cm (4.75 inches) wide x 3.25 cm (1.25 inches) high.

This beautiful box would be superb as a trinket or keep sake box in a château chic boudoir.
