This is a very impressive pair of antique French ormolu curtain tie / hold backs in the Rococo style and dating from about 1880.

They are hinged so they hang freely from the wall and allow drapes to be secured back in a natural and elegant manner.

The front of the hook has a stunning urn design with acanthus leaf handles. Across the centre of the urn is a gorgeous swagged laurel leaf garland tied in a bow.

The gilding to the ormolu has a fabulous antique patina.

The tie backs have a strap on the back of the top plate and can be fixed to the wall by hanging them on a hook.

Dimensions :- H 42 cm (16.5 inches) x W 7 cm (2.75 inches) x D 17 cm (6.75 inches).
