B432 - SOLD

This is a divine antique French brass and toleware pocket watch stand dating from the 1800's. It would have originally stood on a gentleman's night stand and he would have hung his watch from the hook at the top at night and placed his rings and cufflinks in the glass bowl beneath.

The stand sits on a twisted wirework base with a central crown to hold the bowl of the dish. Further wirework embellished with acanthus leaf scrolls and a central flower supports the back of the stand. Here the buttoned silk pad, which protects the back of the watch from scratching, is held in a toleware shield.

The beautiful glass bowl is a stunning shade of turquoise with a frosted pattern. It has an exquisite frilly edge which is clear with a white stripe.

The stand and it's glass bowl have survived the years in wonderful condition. The silk on the pad has a tiny bit of wear as one would expect and the gilding on the metal has mellowed to a lovely old gold hue.

This gorgeous stand would also display jewellery and would make a fabulous chic addition to any boudoir.

It measures 16 cm (6.3 inches) high x 14.5 cm (5.75 inches) wide x 15 cm (6 inches) deep.

(Please Note - The watch & jewellery is shown for display purposes only and is not included).
