This is a sublime antique French cast iron garden planter / jardinière dating from the 1800's.

It is of a size perfect to take two geraniums and would sit beautifully on a window ledge.

It is highly decorative and cast in wonderful detail. It sits on lion's feet and has superb ram's head handles. The sides have a central lion's head crest and there is extensive acanthus leaf scroll work. Even the underside of the jardinière is decorated.

The cast iron is silver gilded. This has mellowed over the years to a fabulous palette of silver greys. This is a wonderful effect that could not be replicated.

The jardinière is in good condition and is a substantial piece.

It measures :- H 17 cm (6.75 inches) x W 40 cm (15.75 inches) x D 16.5 cm (6.5 inches).
