B456 - SOLD

This is a sublime pair of antique French cretonne curtains dating from the early 1900's.

Their base colour is a warm cream upon which is a gorgeous floral print of garlands of roses and leaves entwined with musical instruments.

The flowers are in heavenly shades of coral and apricot and are set off perfectly against the sage green leaves. Touches of a very soft duck egg blue in the musical instruments and leaves complete the colour palette.

The curtains are unlined but the textile has the weight to hang and drape beautifully.

The top of the curtains are worked into goblet pleats beneath which is a fabulous passementerie rope knotted to correspond with the base of each pleat.

The meeting edges and the bottoms of the curtains are trimmed with a fringed passementerie. This has faded (as has the fabric) on the meeting edges of the curtains but this does not detract and adds character to these lovely curtains. The passementerie on the bottom of the curtains (particularly the right hand one) has frayed over the years. This would not be missed if the curtains were to be re-hemmed.

The curtains have not been laundered but are clean and ready for use with one or two very minor marks.

The curtains can be hung with clips or by using hooks on the back.

Each curtain measures :-

230 cm (7 ft 6.5 inches) long

120 cm (3 ft 11 inches) along the bottom

70 cm (2 ft 3.5 inches) along the top

A divine pair of antique French curtains exuding authentic faded château chic charm.

Another très jolie antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
